Losing a loved one is, unquestionably, among the most traumatic experiences of our lives. Here at West & Sons, we are passionate about helping families in their time of loss, from the initial challenge of organising the funeral to the ongoing complications and confusion often posed by the administering of a relative’s estate.
While a funeral director holds your hand for the first few weeks following a bereavement, here at West & Sons we recognise that grief is an ongoing process and we pledge to stand by your side for the difficult months ahead.
We strongly believe that every funeral is unique and designing the perfect send-off is the most respectful thing you can do for a loved one. We are here to help you visualise the whole event, from church service to reception and because in most cases we don’t ask for fees up front and discount venue fees, you can afford a better funeral than you ever thought possible.
As it stands, there are currently no restrictions on the type of funeral you can choose as both burials and cremations are still permitted. However, families are being asked to restrict attendance to help reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus. Mourners are being asked to socially distance and ensure funerals are attended by:
- Close family members
- Close friends where family are not in attendance
- Members of the person’s household
We are aware that some venues are restricting numbers, and this is something we will be able to guide you through.
We are in regular contact with the relevant authorities so that we can observe all the correct protocols to keep you, your family and our team safe.
Adhering to government guidance means we have had to alter the way we would usually work and the West & Sons team are on hand to provide you with expert advice and care to support you as you arrange a personal funeral for your loved one.
If you are shielding or self-isolating and unable to attend the funeral, there are alternatives in place here at West & Sons to help you pay your last respects.
If you are unable to attend in person, you could prepare a video eulogy in honour of your loved one to be shared with those who wish to pay their respects. Equally, a video eulogy can be played, on your behalf, for those able to attend the funeral.
We are also now able to facilitate live streaming and video recording of the service to family and friends who sadly cannot attend.
Our team will work with you to discuss how we can deliver with the best service possible, honouring your loved one’s life, celebrating those magical moments you shared together and creating a long-lasting legacy that you will be able to treasure forever.
